Transport yourself to the north-western part of the Pyrenees mountains, where the vines cling to terraces of slate, limestone, gneiss, and granite soils, with Côtes du Roussillon Mas de Montagnes - a heady and rich wine right from the start, opening with seductive notes of brambly blackberry, wild raspberry, sweet spice, licorice and toast.

It’s full and weighty, with a texture like crushed velvet and a deep palate that continues to provide additional layers of flavor with each sip. Sweet spice, cocoa powder and mocha flavors linger on the evolving finish.

Facing Mont Canigou, the highest peak of the western Pyrenees, the vines are situated on hillside terraces in the diverse soil and rock types, including schist, limestone, gneiss and granite.

This very elegant wine is marked by the contrast between altitude and vertiginous slopes and the minerality and freshness of the mountainside schist soils. Excellent as an elegant aperitif or paired with grilled fish.

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Matthieu Mangenot, Technical Director at @domainesalbertbichot, in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

During his visit, Matthieu led a Burgundy masterclass for local sommeliers eager to gain in-depth insights about the region and the 2022 vintage release. Among the wines tasted are: Saint-Véran, Montagny 1er Cru Vignes Longues, Moulin-à-Vent Le Roc, Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau, and Pommard Clos des Ursulines.

The wines were complimented by an array of fresh fruit and cheeses prepared by @dupontcirclehotel and celebrated along with the prestigious champagne offerings by @champagnemandois 🥂
